Getting Your Haircut at Walt Disney World

Would you ever consider getting your haircut at Walt Disney World?  How about your child’s first haircut?  Something to think about for your next trip is Harmony Barber Shop in the Magic Kingdom.  Harmony Barber Shop is located on the left side of Main St. USA, near City Hall.  It’s off to the side near the Car Barn

Quick TIP:  This is a great place to watch the parades begin their way down Main Street.

The Parade outside Harmony Barber Shop

When you arrive at the quaint little shop, you are greeted by Cast Members and Barbers in period dress.  The shop is an old-fashioned delight of mirrors, wood paneling and decorative barber chairs.

Quick TIP: As of 2010 you can now make an appointment for your haircut by calling 1-407-WDW-DINE or making arrangements with your Disney Resort Concierge Desk.

Depending on the time of day and how busy the parks are walk-ins are usually not a big issue.  But if it’s a “must do” on your list, then make the appointment.

Stickers!

When their turn arrives your little one will be placed in the chair and distracted with Mickey stickers, bubbles and light up toys.  If the timing is right you may get a show from the Barber Shop Quartet.  They swiftly cut your child’s hair into the cut of your choice.  Depending on  your requests your child’s hair can be styled with gel and Pixie Dust.  For an additional cost they will use colored gel, a favorite with the little girl set.  This year we took our almost 1 year old for his very first Haircut at Disney.  We purchased the “1st Haircut Package” which included a First Haircut Certificate and his own set of Mickey Ears.   TIP:  That very first hair cut is something you only do once, so why not do at Disney World?  Although I don’t recommend waiting too long; if your child is 2 or 3, take them to Supercuts.

The Harmony Barber Shop is suitable for adults, boys and girls.  The Cast Members are extremely friendly, tolerant of wiggly worms and the result is fantastic.  The shop will also trim Dad’s beard or mustache too.  While it can not compare to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, it is an  alternative to jazz up your little girls style without making your wallet cry.  We have been very pleased all the times we have taken our boys for their cuts and amazed at how much they love the experience.  So next time you are looking for an additional bit of “Magic” on your vacation, get a hair cut!  The Harmony Barber shop is open daily from 9am to 5pm.

  1. My girls, 8 and 11, got their hair cut last month at the barber shop and LOVED it. We walked right in and even got to watch the parade! Now when someone asks them where they got their hair cut they yell “Main Street USA”!! Well worth it! Our local wal-mart charges more than $15!
