Guy Fieri the owner of The Chicken Guy Restaurant that opened this past year in Disney Springs is backing up restaurant employees. He is aiding the NRAEF, the National Restaurant Association Educational Relief Foundation. This fund is going to assist restaurant workers who have lost their jobs and been affect by the COVID-19 outbreak. It is called the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund, and Guy Fieri is helping raise money for it.
There is an option to apply for a $500 check to aid with daily living necessities and bills. Guy Fieri stated in a press release that, “they are the hardest working, most real deal workers you’ve ever met… the heartbeats of their communities. We can serve up some support when these restaurant employees need it most… right now.”
Many restaurants have had to close their doors or reduce their hours and staff greatly due to this pandemic. At this point with the stay at home orders and regulations for restaurants are only even able to do take out or curbside orders. The NRAEF estimates 5-7 million restaurant employees will be jobless due to the pandemic. If you would like to donate you can do so by visiting the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund
