Power Outage Causes Disneyland Monorail Evacuation

An evening of Disney magic on the Disneyland Monorail took an unexpected turn tonight when a power outage left dozens of guests stranded high above the park, necessitating a large-scale rescue operation by first responders.

According to the Anaheim Police Department, approximately 60 people were trapped aboard the Disneyland Monorail after the system lost power in the late afternoon. The train came to a sudden halt on the tracks near the iconic Space Mountain attraction, leaving passengers suspended between stations.

Disneyland officials confirmed that the outage impacted two separate trains during the peak of the park’s afternoon rush.

Because the monorail cars were positioned on an elevated section of the beam, guests could not exit on their own. Anaheim first responders arrived on the scene with heavy-duty ladders to reach the stranded passengers.

Emergency crews worked methodically to evacuate the cabins, predicting that the process of safely lowering all 60 guests to the ground could take up to two hours.

Despite the technical nature of the rescue and the length of time guests spent on the tracks, Anaheim police reported that no injuries occurred. Disneyland has not yet released a statement regarding the specific cause of the power failure or when the monorail system is expected to return to service.
