Olivia’s Cafe Begins Refurbishment and Photo Relocation
For decades, the walls of Olivia’s Cafe at Disney’s Old Key West Resort have served as a living scrapbook. Thousands of photos featuring smiling Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Members have lined the dining rooms, creating a “home-away-from-home” atmosphere that defined the resort’s charm.
However, change is coming to Conch Flats. As part of an extensive interior refurbishment, these iconic guest photos are being removed from the walls to make way for a fresh look.

Preserving the Memories
If you’re worried about your family’s vacation legacy disappearing, no need for concern. Disney isn’t tossing these memories away; they are giving them a new, protected home.
- The Problem: Over the years, many of the physical photographs have begun to age or fade due to sunlight and the humidity of the Florida environment.
- The Solution: The collection is being thoughtfully relocated into archival-quality albums.
- New Location: You can find these preserved memories at Conch Flats Community Hall, the resort’s central gathering spot.
The Community Hall is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., allowing Members and Guests to flip through the albums and reminisce in a comfortable, climate-controlled setting.

What to Expect During the Refurbishment
The renovation process at Olivia’s Cafe is already underway, and guests visiting in the coming weeks will notice some logistical changes:
- Phase-Based Work: Renovations began in the back of the restaurant and are moving toward the front.
- Closures: As of February 16, a portion of the dining room is unavailable. The back room is currently partitioned off with paper and blinds covering the windows.
- Business as Usual: Despite the construction tape and relocated decor, Olivia’s Cafe remains open. You can still get your Southernmost Buttermilk Fried Chicken—you just might be sitting in a slightly smaller dining area for the time being.

A Fresh Look for a Classic
While the “wall of fame” was a cornerstone of the original Old Key West aesthetic, this routine maintenance aims to modernize the space while honoring its history. By moving the photos to the Community Hall, Disney ensures they stay protected from further wear and tear while freeing up the restaurant walls for a refreshed design.
The work is expected to last for several weeks. If you have a photo currently on the wall, it will eventually be transitioned into the new communal albums as the refurbishment reaches the check-in area.
