Last year Glitter Toaster Strudel (isn’t that the BEST name?!) gave birth to seven babies. Vice President of Disney’s Animals, Science & Environment, Dr. Mark Penning, shared the news about her eight babies on Instagram.
“Baby news! Lesser Madagascar hedgehog tenrec mom, Glitter Toaster Strudel, just welcomed eight newborns at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park!
Glitter Toaster Strudel and her new babies are ambassador animals, helping teach guests about the species and how they can help protect wildlife. You can occasionally spot Glitter Toaster Strudel with keepers at Conservation Station at Rafiki’s Planet Watch!
Did You Know lesser Madagascar hedgehog tenrecs aren’t actually hedgehogs at all? These unique animals are classified differently and are more closely related to moles! Tenrecs’ tails are covered with short spines, and hedgehogs have tails without spines at all.”
Will you be heading to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to try to get a peek of Glitter Toaster Strudel and her babies?
