Frozen II‘ is the Third Highest Grossing Animated Film Debut in History. You may be seeing many reports about Frozen II being the highest grossing animated film debut of all time, but the truth of the matter is, Frozen II now sits at number 3 for highest grossing animated films of all time.

Frozen II broke many records during the films premiere weekend, including ‘highest grossing animated film debut in the month of November’, and is a sequel worth seeing in theaters. The film has been captivating audiences and has even seen a jump in streaming of the films soundtrack on Spotify since the film started playing in theaters.

Frozen II still has a chance to break even more records during its theatrical run, and will likely do so during the rest of the year. The Walt Disney Company is more than enthusiastic about the films performance, and has been celebrating the films unprecedented success as an animated film released outside of summer.

“Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen II had a record-breaking opening weekend, earning $358.4 million globally. This gives the film the No. 1 day-and-date global animated debut of all time,” TWDC shared via their website.

“Domestically, Frozen II set a November animated record with $130.2 million, the biggest opening ever for Walt Disney Animation Studios, as well as for any animated film outside of summer. Frozen II’s domestic tally makes it the third-highest animated debut of all time in the U.S. and significantly surpasses the 2013 debut of the first Frozen, which earned $93 million domestic over the five-day Thanksgiving holiday weekend.”

“Around the globe, Frozen II was No. 1 everywhere it opened for an estimated total of $228.2 million from 37 material markets, led by China, where it earned $53 million. The film had the third-highest industry opening ever in Korea, the highest opening weekend ever for an animated title in France and the UK (three-day), the third-highest opening weekend ever for an animated title in China and the highest opening weekend ever for a Disney Animation/Pixar title in Japan, China, Spain and Germany.”

“In addition to shattering box office records, Frozen II has also melted moviegoers’ hearts. The film has an A- CinemaScore and a 94% Verified Audience Score on RottenTomatoes.”

“Why was Elsa (Idina Menzel) born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna (Kristen Bell), Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), Olaf (Josh Gad), and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen II,” she must hope they are enough.”

Frozen II is now playing in theaters. You can order tickets via Fandango.com, AMCtheatres.com, preferred theater mobile app, or at a theater box office window near you.
