Disneyland's Frontierland Gate will Receive Big Renovation

Disneyland is planning a big renovation for the Frontierland gate once the park is reopened. A permit filed with the city of Anaheim calls for the replacement of a pair of 15-foot-tall faux wooden gates and a 16-foot-long marquee along with the widening of an existing bridge at the Frontierland entrance.

The renovation of the entrance is designed to improve pedestrian traffic flow and is said to cost $200,000. Work on this project has not yet begun as Disneyland Resort is closed during the coronavirus pandemic. In line with direction from government and health officials, the temporary closure of the Disneyland Resort includes construction sites and refurbishment projects.

The Frontierland gate renovation is expected to be similar to the Adventureland sign project that widened the notoriously-crowded entryway to the tropical land as part of a park-wide effort to improve pedestrian traffic flow.

The closure of both Disneyland Resort theme parks has halted construction on other projects like Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Disneyland. There were also attractions, like Haunted Mansion and Snow White’s Scary Adventures, in mid-renovation when the parks closed.
