Former Imagineer Joe Rohde Announced as a Recipient of Disney Conservation Legacy Award 

Former Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde is still making headlines as he becomes one of the first recipients in history to be honored with a Conservation Legacy Award. Every year, nonprofit organizations are granted awards from the Disney Conservation Fund for their efforts to protect nature and wildlife. In 2021, highly committed individuals were also offered awards.

Among the honored award recipients is Joe Rohde, one of two to be given the first-ever Conservation Legacy Award. Joe Rohde retired in January 2021, after 41 years with the Walt Disney Company. His insight and engagement on Disney’s Animal Kingdom Advisory Board was instrumental in making the Disney Conservation Fund possible. His legacy as an Imagineer is undeniable, with projects like Expedition Everest and the construction of Animal Kingdom’s Pandora under his belt (among too many others to name). But perhaps it will be his global conservation efforts which will keep his name in our hearts the longest. Joe Rohde is a Disney Conservation Hero because of his unique ability in using art to advance conservation efforts. He has shown a dedication to honor cultures and inspire others to save wildlife. His creativity and commitment to the environment have been missed since his retirement, and are certainly worthy of this great honor!
