“Today, we mourn the passing of Dick Nunis, a true Disney Legend whose contributions to The Walt Disney Company have touched the lives of millions of people all over the world,” said Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company. “What started as a summer job training future Disneyland employees would ultimately become a storied 44-year career at Disney. Dick took the values and philosophies he learned directly from Walt and incorporated them into everything he did at Disney. We are grateful for his many achievements and we extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.”

“On behalf of every Cast Member, Crew Member, Imagineer and employee of Disney Experiences, I want to express my gratitude to Disney Legend Dick Nunis… and my condolences to his family following the sad news of his passing,” said Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences. “Dick’s impact on our theme parks business is everlasting. Nunis embarked on his Disney journey in 1955 at Disneyland, where he set the stage for a remarkable career that would shape the destiny of Walt Disney’s vision for outdoor entertainment. His visionary leadership played a pivotal role in transforming a singular park in Anaheim into the globally renowned theme park and resort business we know today.

A key chapter in Nunis’s legacy is marked by his instrumental role in steering the development of “Project X,” the ambitious initiative that would evolve into the iconic Walt Disney World Resort. Under his guidance, Disney theme parks achieved significant milestones, and his contributions resonated through the very fabric of their history.

As we bid farewell to a Disney Legend, Dick Nunis’s impact endures in the hearts of those who have reveled in the enchantment of Disney parks worldwide. His vision, dedication, and leadership continue to shape the magic that brings joy to millions, leaving an indelible mark on the legacy of Walt Disney’s dream.
