There are rumors circulating that Disney might be moving some of their California operations to Florida due to state restrictions. Chief Financial Officer of Florida Jimmy Patronis says that Florida would welcome this move.
“Disney already has a proven track record here,” Chief Financial Officer of Florida Jimmy Patronis said. “We just like to allow them to grow and expand their business.”

If Disney does move some operations out of California, they would join the growing number of companies considering leaving the state. California has some of the strictest COVID-19 measures which have kept the Disneyland Resort theme parks closed for almost a year now.
Patronis connects companies leaving California to Governor Newsom’s leadership. “Gavin Newsom is nonresponsive. Businesses are fleeing his state,” Patronis said.
Moving operations to Florida is an attractive option for Disney. Taxes are lower and Florida has a strong financial record. It is also a safe state with declining violent crime rates.
