Flight of Passage won Outstanding Visual Effects

If you’ve had the chance to experience Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you know it’s a breathtaking experience. Last night Flight of Passage won Outstanding Visual Effects in a Special Venue Project at the VES Awards.

The VES Awards are hosted by the Visual Effects Society (VES). These awards honor outstanding visual effects in motion pictures, television and other media.

Avatar Flight of Passage gives guests an innovative 3-D ride experience. Guests soar on a banshee’s back over the landscape of Pandora. This is an experience like no other! It uses cutting-edge technology and intricate special effects for a multi-sensory experience.  Not only are guests treated to a visual delight, but they can feel the banshee beneath them breathing as they fly over mountains, sail over an ocean and plummet through ancient caverns.

This is the second major industry award Flight of Passage has won.  It has also been given a Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement: Attraction.
