First Look: New Photos of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland

Star Wars fans are anxiously awaiting the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland on May 31st.  But, you won’t have to wait until then to get a glimpse of what’s in store for visitors to the Black Spire Outpost.  We have some of the first photos of the new land ever released, thanks to our friends over at D23.  Take a look at these amazing photos and check out all of the crazy details around every corner of this new land!

Since Black Spire Outpost is a popular spaceport on Batuu for travelers reaching the Outer Rim Territories, you’ll see lots of different Starships of the galaxy parked at the port.  Some of the familiar ships will be, two X-Wings (blue & white and Poe Dameron’s orange & black) as well as an A-Wing.

Of course, the Millennium Falcon will be on hand for guests to experience in the Smuggler’s Run attraction.  We can see in the iconic hallways making up a part of the entrance for the ride, as well as a few notable backdrops from scenes of previous Star Wars films.

Recognize this location below?  This location on the Millennium Falcon was featured in The Empire Strikes Back – it’s where Leia and Han share their first kiss!  This location will be the perfect spot for couples to recreate the iconic scene.

Near the exit of Smugglers Run, you’ll spot another Easter Egg from the movies.  A Rathtar frozen in carbonite.  Known for mistakenly being let loose by Rey on the Millenium Falcon in The Force Awakens, Rathtars are”big, dangerous and ugly”.  Let’s hope there aren’t any others lurking around the ship.

Play Along With The Mobile App

Hidden details can be found everywhere you look in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.  These signs carved into the shop entrances need to be translated using the Star Wars: Datapad.  You can find this in the Play Disney Parks mobile app (unless you’re fluent in intergalactic languages).  There are tons of messages hidden around the land.  Use the app to interact with devices, control panels, and droids too!

Black Spire Outpost was given that name because of the giant black trees that once towered over it.  You can see those trees petrified remains in the “spires” that tower over the land.

Inside Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, you’ll find lots of quick service options for hungry space travelers.  If you look closely, you’ll also find a nod to the first trilogy of Star Wars films.  A large crate near the center of the space is labeled “80”, for the year The Empire Strikes Back was released.

Take a close look around and see if you can spot the “77” and “83” paying homage to the other two original films.

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is a literal treasure-trove of artifacts.  Inside the den, you’ll find collections of helmets, and taxidermied heads of familiar space creatures.

Look around for other collectibles and artifacts relating to Jedi and Sith lore.  Statues of famous Jedi knights, historic lightsabers and holocrons can be found on display.

These photos are just a glimpse of the amazing details that can be found at Galaxy’s Edge.  I’m sure we’ll see much more when the land officially opens to guests on May 31st. To see all of the photos visit D23.

Galaxy’s Edge Reservations

Remember that if you’re planning to visit Disneyland and enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll need a reservation.  Reservations allow guests a 4-hour window to visit the land.  After that, you’ll be asked to move on to another part of the park.  The land will be open to all Disneyland guests with regular admission starting June 24th.

  1. These look just like movies! I cannot wait to be immersed in the Galaxy that I grew up watching and have a toast to Luke Skywalker with Blue Milk! #DisneyVacayGiveaway

  2. The details in Galaxy’s Edge are stunning! I cannot wait to experience it. #DisneyVacayGiveaway

  3. What I love about Disney is that they really make you feel like you are transported from reality into another world. The details they put into their lands is just incredible! Being there will make you feel like you are IN one of the Star Wars movies. Disneyland is smart for giving people the opportunity to make reservations to enjoy Star Wars Galaxy Edge the first month of opening because the crowd levels are going to be so overwhelming as it is! #DisneyVacayGiveaway

  4. Everything looks amazing! I can’t wait to visit later this year. #DisneyVacayGiveaway
