First Look Inside the All-New Beak & Barrel Pirates Themed Tavern at Magic Kingdom

The curtain has been lifted on The Beak & Barrel, a brand-new pirate tavern dropping anchor in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom on August 29, 2025. Inside, guests will find a richly immersive hideaway aglow with flickering lanterns, weathered walls, and shelves overflowing with seafaring treasures—making it feel as though it’s been standing here since the golden age of piracy. We were invited by Disney to step inside ahead of its grand opening, and we’re bringing you this very first look at the swashbuckling space!

A Pirate’s Den Brought to Life

Every inch of The Beak & Barrel is designed to immerse guests in the life of a swashbuckler. The main tavern hall features massive wooden beams, draped ropes, and tattered sails, with glowing chandeliers crafted from ship timbers and covered in dripping candles. Lanterns cast warm golden light across heavy oak tables, while alcoves glow with blue and red highlights, giving the tavern an eerie, otherworldly atmosphere.

Along the walls, cabinets and shelves overflow with seafaring relics—spyglasses, compasses, ledgers, globes, and even mysterious bottles glowing with pirate “elixirs.” Antique portraits and nautical maps adorn cracked plaster walls, making the tavern feel like a place where stories of adventure and betrayal were written long ago.

Seating Fit for a Crew

Unlike most bars, The Beak & Barrel does not have seating directly at the bar counter—a design choice that mirrors Oga’s Cantina at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Instead, the bar serves as a dramatic visual centerpiece, lined with glowing bottles, carved woodwork, and pirate relics, while guests are directed to gather at tables spread throughout the tavern.

The seating itself is varied and atmospheric:

  • Long communal tables with sturdy wooden chairs, perfect for groups of adventurers sharing rations.
  • Cozy booths tucked into corners with rich red or dark green upholstery, surrounded by antique portraits and candlelit shelves.
  • Chess and map tables, adding a playful, interactive feel where pirates might have plotted their next course.
  • Intimate alcoves with bench seating and lanterns, offering quieter corners for small crews or families.

This mix of communal and tucked-away spaces helps the tavern feel both lively and personal—whether you’re raising a glass with fellow buccaneers or swapping secrets in the shadows.

Designed for Flow and Turnover

By eliminating bar seating, The Beak & Barrel keeps the main counter open for quick ordering and pick-up, likely designed to encourage faster guest turnover. This setup allows more guests to cycle through and enjoy the tavern without long waits, while still leaving room for those who want to linger at a table and soak in the ambiance.

A Story Around Every Corner

Disney storytelling runs deep here: the tavern was founded by Captain Merry Goldwyn and is overseen by Rummy, her talkative parrot quartermaster. Hidden treasures, secret maps, and even enchanted surprises are woven into the décor, waiting for sharp-eyed guests to discover. Add in live entertainment—sing-alongs, tales of seafaring adventure, and perhaps a few surprises—and the tavern feels alive with lore.

A New Adventure in Adventureland

Between its detailed theming, Caribbean-inspired small plates, and signature cocktails served in pirate-worthy mugs, The Beak & Barrel is set to become a must-visit for Magic Kingdom guests. It’s a place that feels pulled straight from a pirate storybook—where food, drink, and atmosphere collide to deliver an experience both immersive and unforgettable.

Opening August 29, 2025, this pirate’s refuge is ready to welcome crews of all sizes to eat, drink, and be merry. Just don’t expect to linger at the bar—there’s no room for that in this bustling tavern.
