Hercules Takes the West End: Get Your First Look!

With the iconic music of Alan Menken and witty lyrics by David Zippel at its heart, this new production boasts a fresh book penned by Robert Horn and Kwame Kwei-Armah. Bringing this vibrant world to life on stage is the acclaimed director Casey Nicholaw, who also lends his choreographic talents alongside Tanisha Scott. This powerhouse duo is set to deliver a production inspired by the magic of the original film, directed by The Little Mermaid visionaries John Musker and Ron Clements.
The screenplay for the animated hit was crafted by Clements, Musker, Donald McEnery, Bob Shaw, and Irene Mecchi, and it notably earned accolades including Best Animation Feature at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards and an Academy Award® nomination for the unforgettable song, Go the Distance.

Leading the charge as the titular hero, Hercules, is the talented Luke Brady. Guiding him on his epic journey are the captivating Muses, brought to life by Candace Furbert (Thalia), Sharlene Hector (Clio), Brianna Ogunbawo (Melpomene), Malinda Parris (Calliope), and Robyn Rose-Li (Terpsichore), with Kimmy Edwards and Kamilla Fernandes standing by. The sharp-witted Meg will be portrayed by the wonderful Mae Ann Jorolan, while the wise-cracking satyr Phil will be in the capable hands (or hooves!) of Trevor Dion Nicholas. Brace yourselves for the villainous Hades, brought to life by the formidable Stephen Carlile, and adding a touch of earthly charm (and perhaps some comic relief) are Craig Gallivan and Lee Zarrett in the roles of Bob and Charles.

The ensemble cast is equally impressive, featuring the talents of Rhianne Alleyne, Lana Antoniou, Daisy Barnett, Felipe Bejarano, Sarah Benbelaid, Joel Benjamin, Jack Butcher, Nicole Carlisle, Francessca Daniella-Baker, Marie Finlayson, Ryesha Higgs, Cruz-Troy Hunter, Travis Kerry, Stefan Lagoulis, Jason Leigh Winter, Jordan Livesey, Harriet Millier, Ellie Mitchell, Saffi Needham, Ben Nicholas, Ingrid Olivia, Matt Overfield, Patrick John Robinson, Ope Sowande, and Rhys West.
The creative team behind this theatrical spectacle is a who’s who of Broadway and West End talent. Joining Nicholaw and Scott are:
- Scenic and Additional Video Design: Dane Laffrey
- Costume Design: Gregg Barnes, Sky Switser
- Lighting Design: Jeff Croiter
- Sound Design: Adam Fisher
- Video Design: George Reeve
- Special Effects Design: Jeremy Chernick

This new musical promises a “wise-cracking, column-shaking, underworld-rocking ride of adventure, self-discovery, and love,” all set in the iconic world of Ancient Greece, where gods, mortals, and the not-quite-either Hercules collide. Get ready to witness the journey of how a hero truly goes from zero to hero – in tunics, no less! The West End is about to get a whole lot more heroic.
