The first Orlando based Portillo’s located in The Village at O-Town West in Lake Buena Vista will be opening soon, just minutes from Walt Disney World!
We were on hand yesterday to see what all the hype was about as Portillo’s is HUGE in the midwest and the people in Florida are excited a 3rd location (the other 2 locations are near Tampa) will be opening next month! Can you believe they have been open for 57 years already?
“We’re thrilled to expand our presence in Florida and be part of such an iconic community,” said Portillo’s CEO Michael Osanloo. “This new restaurant will allow us to bring Portillo’s to long-time fans and first-time guests in the Orlando area, as well as serve the many tourists in one of the country’s most popular destinations.”
The 60’s Rock & Roll theme inside will take you back.
They even have a 31′ guitar on the inside, I mean how awesome is that?
The diner-like feel of the inside has lots to look at but you are going to be so busy noshing on the Chicago-Style Hot Dogs, Famous Italian Beef Sandwiches, Char-Grilled Burgers and Portillo’s Famous Chocolate Cake, the recipe comes from Michael Portillo’s wife herself.
To help launch the new restaurant, Portillo’s designed a limited-edition t-shirt for this location. Guests are invited to sign up for Portillo’s Birthday Club to receive one of these shirts on opening day, while supplies last. Fans who sign up also receive a slice of Portillo’s homemade chocolate cake on their birthday.
Here is a better look at some of the decor inside:
Back there is where the magic happens, watch them make your food in this open kitchen design.
The 7,800-square-foot restaurant features double drive-thru lanes as well as two large covered outdoor patios.
When Portillo’s opens they will be their own delivery system & curbside model equipped with geolocation enabling pickup without ever leaving your car. How cool is that?
Guests can also get a taste of Portillo’s before the new restaurant opens from the Portillo’s Beef Bus, which will serve Portillo’s famous Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef, cheese fries and beverages. Beef Bus team members will wear masks; guests are required to wear facial coverings as well. Portillo’s will mark 6-foot distances in line, so guests can maintain social distancing. The Beef Bus will begin operating in the Orlando area starting January 21, 2021. Follow the Beef Bus on Twitter and Instagram for its location and exact hours of operation.
For checking out sneak peek yesterday we were given a Chicago Style dog to go but Nikki couldn’t wait to dig in so she ate it in the parking lot. Now we see why people love Portillo’s so much!
Portillo’s is now hiring in anticipation of the projected March 16h opening. On average, Portillo’s hires approximately 150 people for new restaurants. The restaurant is looking to fill a variety of hourly and shift leader positions. Details can be found at portillos.com/careers.
We can’t wait to come back for some Italian beef and a slice of the famous Chocolate cake!
Thank you so much to the gang at Portillo’s for letting us come check out a sneak peek at their new restaurant. Stay tuned to more here on Chip and Co as we get closer to the Grand Opening!
