Fireworks returning to Orlando for the 4th! Is Disney World next?

Fireworks returning

We heard rumblings a few days ago about the return of local fireworks returning in the Orlando area. Then the news broke on May 25, 2021, in a tweet from the official mayor’s Twitter account. Orlando’s mayor Bud Dwyer tweeted. You can read the whole tweet below.

The return of Fireworks at the Fountain is a direct result of what our community has done together to stop the spread of COVID-19. As more and more residents get the vaccine, we’re able to get closer to a return to normal, and the events that make our city unique.

Which leads us to, what does this mean for Walt Disney World guests? Will Disney also return on the Fourth with Fireworks? Right now the answer is unknown to us. The hours have not been adjusted for July 4th, they still show 9 am to 9 pm. You would have to believe that fireworks would be returning soon though. With testing of Harmonious at Epcot going on nightly. In addition to the relaxation of the enhanced safety measures, and the masks restrictions almost gone. We truly hope they make a come back and they are announced soon. Nothing feels more patriotic than standing shoulder to shoulder on Main Street USA, watching fireworks from all over Disney World going off, all the while patriotic music blares.

Orlando is not the only local firework display this July 4th, Polk County and the City of Davenport have announced the return of fireworks displays. Champion’s Gate area hotels are doing a fireworks display both Memorial Day and Fourth of July. Sunset Walk aka Margaritaville has also announced fireworks and concerts. Not to mention all the north and east side displays that are going to happen. I mention these to show that most places that are close or next door to Disney World are returning to pre-pandemic times.

Even if Walt Disney World does not do a firework display this year for the Fourth, please check out all the other local ones. 3 or 4 of them are within 5 miles of most resorts. Drop us a line and let us know your plans, and if you are local what is the best place for the Fourth?
