This past Wednesday was not just another normal Wednesday at the Magic Kingdom inside Disney World. A special family was also there to honor their deceased son. The Shanaghan Family decided to hand out Disney Gift Cards to other random families on what would have been Miles Shanaghan fourth birthday.
Miles was diagnosed with pediatric cancer shortly after turning three and unfortunately, passed away this past February.
“No one prepares you to lose a child, you know. It was our first baby and, you know, and Louie’s older brother,” said Matthew Shanaghan, Mile’s father.
In total, the Shanaghan Family passed out $4,000 in Disney Gift Cards ranging from $25 to $150. The gift cards also had a photo of Miles on them. The Shanaghan Family sold t-shirts to raise money to purchase the gift cards.
This is what was posted on Facebook to let everyone know of their kind act:
Matthew Shanaghan also stated, “It’s too late for Miles, but it’s not too late for all these other kids. It doesn’t end with him.”
What a great act of kindness by the Shanaghan Family in their time of loss. And, a great way to honor such a sweet little man.
