It’s a special moment for any family when their loved one returns from deployment. This Seminole Florida Army Dad wanted to make it extra memorable creating a big surprise with his wife for his five children to return and surprise them at Disney World. Staff Army Seargent Byron Yates along with his wife Samantha Yate started putting together this plan for his return months in advance.
SSG Yates has been part of the Army for 13 years now. He is based out of the Clearwater, Florida Aviation Medivac Unit. Yates will be working on base while home from deployment for the time being. It is uncertain of how long he will be state-side. He has been serving overseas in Syria for over the past year now.
Samantha and Byron have five young children ranging from 11 years old to their youngest at just one. Samantha brought the kids to Disney’s Magic Kingdom all dressed up as princesses and princes. They were having their photo taken while holding a sign that read “We don’t know yet but our dad is home from deployment!” SSG then showed up in uniform behind his family to join the picture, and give his wife a hug before all the kiddos turned and realized their Dad was home. They rushed to give him a hug and the tears of joy started flowing, along with great big smiles. It was heartwarming to see the reaction, and the love this family shares in the most magical place on earth. They will have these photos and memories at Disney of their dad returning home to cherish always.
