In the summer of 2014 Joseph and Danielle Jones packed their three daughters into the car and headed from their home in San Leandro to Anaheim for a family vacation at Disneyland. However, the family allegedly got more then they asked for.
The Jones’s stayed at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa and first discovered a problem when their 9-year-old daughter was complaining about painful itchy bites on her face, but the family dismissed it without taking it too serious.
The next day the family was covered in bites and they went to complain at the front desk. From there they were told to talk with the hotel’s housekeeping department, which they did and were told it was mosquito bites and not bed bugs.
The bites had worsened over their vacation and on their way home they stopped by a hospital in Oakland where a Doctor told them the bites were from bed bugs. Once they returned home they threw out off of their clothing and anything else they had with them at the resort.
The Jones’s has recently filed a lawsuit this past Thursday which alleges battery, negligence, fraudulent concealment, nuisance and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress and seeks unspecified damages. The family has suffered emotional distress, physical pain and the youngest child is permanently scarred.
Prior to this lawsuit there were complaints of bed bugs on two separate website referring to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa.
