Earlier this year, it was announced that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier would be released on Disney+ in August. It’s easily the most anticipated title on the series after the launch phenomenon, Star Wars: The Mandalorian. However, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier hasn’t even finished filming yet. It’s now confirmed by Disney that the Marvel Disney+ series will not ready for its scheduled August 2020 release date.
The series has seen several set backs since filming began in November 2019 including: unscheduled reshoots, scrapped production in Puerto Rico after devastating earthquakes, and now delays in production due to the coronavirus outbreak worldwide. The production crew halted filming in March, and it’s subsequent delays to return to filming have now impacted the premier date.
According to Mackie, the series will feel like a six-hour Marvel Studios movie rather than a traditional TV project.
“Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” The all-new series is directed by Kari Skogland; Malcolm Spellman is the head writer. Debuts on Disney+ TBA.
