Industry Consensus Points to Josh D’Amaro as Top Choice for Disney CEO
In a recent Bloomberg survey of more than 700 industry insiders, Josh D’Amaro emerged as the definitive favorite to become the next Disney CEO. The poll suggests a strong professional consensus that D’Amaro is the best-suited candidate to take the helm of The Walt Disney Company.

Bloomberg’s latest year-end survey of over 700 industry experts reveals a shifting landscape for major entertainment players. While the consensus suggests Netflix will eventually acquire Warner Bros. (though the potential for CNN reform remains a top concern), the focus has largely shifted to Disney’s looming succession.
According to the results, Josh D’Amaro has emerged as the frontrunner for Disney CEO, securing nearly 30% of the vote and unseating previous winner Dana Walden, who followed with 22.5%. Interestingly, Bob Iger remains a factor in the eyes of many; roughly 18% of experts believe he will still be at the helm by 2027.

Beyond the top contenders, the poll explored alternative leadership structures: 15.3% of experts favored a co-CEO model, 8.8% looked toward an outsider, and 5.5% preferred a different internal Disney candidate. Notably, former CEO Bob Chapek was excluded from the conversation entirely. The transition strategy involves the successor working in tandem with Bob Iger for a set period, a move designed to ensure stability. To prevent a “talent exodus” after the announcement, the board is proactively negotiating contract extensions and offering expanded roles to high-level executives.
While Disney officially aims to name a successor in early 2026, the public discourse is already heating up. Dana Walden recently addressed the race directly, and the Wall Street Journal has signaled a preference for Josh D’Amaro. For Iger, the weight of the decision is evident; he has openly expressed the difficulty of choosing a leader capable of navigating Disney’s complex future.
