Ewan McGregor Will Voice Jiminy Cricket in Guillermo del Toro‘s ‘Pinocchio‘. After being cancelled in 2017, it appeared Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio was not meant to be, that is until Netflix came in to save the project.

The new film is not tied to Disney’s live-action remake of the animated Pinocchio film currently in the works, but will be a Netflix original stop-motion film with Guillermo del Toro at the helm. The cast for Netflix’s Pinocchio includes: Tilda Swinton, Chritoph Waltz, Ron Perlman (Mangiafuoco), David Bradley (Geppetto), and newly announced Ewan McGregor as the voice of Jiminy Cricket.

A synopsis for the film shares, “A dark, twisted retelling of the famous Carlo Collodi fairy tale about the wooden puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy. When Pinocchio comes to life, he turns out not to be that nice of a boy, creating mischief and playing mean tricks. He eventually learns a few lessons.”

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio is expected to premiere sometime in 2021, but it is currently unknown if the COVID-19 Pandemic caused delays in filming that could result in a postponed premiere date. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Entertainment!
