Evangeline Lilly Says The Wasp Needs her own Solo Movie

Evangeline Lilly recently sat spoke with Variety on the Red Carpet and expressed her desire to see her character Hope VanDine get a solo venture in the MCU. Lilly has played the character now in several Ant-Man films and other team-up films, but we have yet to see “The Wasp” fly solo, and Lilly would like to change all of that.

In the Variety interview, Lilly stated, “Well, I’m going to make a pitch that, I think it might be time for a Hope [van Dyne] spin-off. For a Wasp standalone film. Do we agree? Anybody? Going once? Going twice?”

Lilly also expressed that she feels like an “Avengers Senior” now being one of the few actors to have participated in Phase 2 and still be in the mix. Lilly added, “…when we first came into the universe it was so established with Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America, and all the original gangsters. And we were just like these new kids on the block who were trying to earn out stripes. And now all of a sudden we’re in the center at the launching point of Phase 5, and it feels really cool.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania is the third installment in the Ant-Man films and marks the official start of Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film follows Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and the Wasp (Lilly) as they journey into the Quantum Realm alongside Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer). Lovecraft Country’s Jonathan Majors will play the iconic villain Kang the Conqueror in the upcoming installment and will serve as the major villain for Phase 5.
