‘Eternals’ Earns Lowest Critic Rating for the MCU to Date on Rotten Tomatoes. There was no doubting that the introduction of Eternals would cause a wave of change in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it seems critics are unhappy with the new direction. Without considering that the rating may drastically change once the audience reviews begin to pile in after the premiere on November 5th, the movie currently stands at a 61% rating from critics which is the lowest percentage for any MCU movie to date.

However, a 61% critic rating is not a death sentence for any movie and shows that a majority of critics still enjoyed the film, with many citing that it “left something to be desired” by the end of the origin story. Notably, praise has been given to the cast, costume department, and VFX teams at Marvel Studios for the incredible work they do, but many felt the story was lacking or had to be altered from its original vision to better fit the MCU narrative in Phase 4, leaving many critics craving more content, yet that feeling was never satisfied before the credits (and post-credits scenes) rolled. By comparision, most 60% critic rated movies on Rotten Tomatoes end up earning an 85%-100% rating by audiences, so the film is still on track to earn a Certified Fresh Rating when all is said and done!
