“The Handoff” Kicks Off the Countdown. The initiative launched immediately following Super Bowl LX, where the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots. A symbolic “handoff” occurred as legendary broadcaster Chris Berman ceremonially transitioned coverage from Levi’s Stadium to Scott Van Pelt at SoFi Stadium—the future site of Super Bowl LXI.

Following the game, Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III and quarterback Sam Darnold continued the iconic “I’m going to Disneyland!” tradition. The celebration moved to Disneyland Park, where a custom-built set in Town Square hosted live broadcasts of First Take, SportsCenter, and NFL Live.
