For fans of the original and new fans alike get ready for an adventure of truly “epic” proportions when Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed launches on Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox, and PC later this year.
The original platform game, developed by Junction Point Studios and published by Disney Interactive Studios, made its debut on the Nintendo Wii in 2010. Now, THQ Nordic is bringing it back with a refreshed version. This game weaves a unique tale where the sorcerer Yen Sid is in the process of crafting a world dedicated to Disney characters and concepts that have been forgotten over time. During this creative process, Mickey Mouse, driven by curiosity, stumbles upon Yen Sid’s workshop through a magical mirror. Unfortunately, Mickey’s innocent meddling causes damage to this newly formed world, transforming it into a Wasteland.
In this adventure, players take control of Mickey Mouse, who finds himself pulled into the Wasteland. The gameplay revolves around the innovative use of paint and paint thinner, allowing players to alter the environment of the Wasteland and confront the Shadow Blot that threatens this world. A notable aspect of the game is the inclusion of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. This marked a significant moment as it was Oswald’s first involvement in a Disney project since the company reacquired the rights to the character in 2006. The game also holds the distinction of being the first project where Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit appear together, making it a landmark title for fans of Disney’s rich history of characters.
