Epcot’s “Beacon of Magic” Lights up the Disney Skyline in its Debut. Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary is 24 hours away, and with it comes the premiere of the transformation of the Icons. The Icons are, for those who may not know, Cinderella Castle, Tower of Terror, Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life, and Epcot’s Space Ship Earth. Tonight we got to see Space Ship Earth light up the whole Disney World Resort sky. Lights shine from within Spaceship Earth’s reflective panels as stardust emerges to symbolize beacons of possibility and optimism.

For the past few months, we have brought you news of the new LED lights being installed in between the panels on Space Ship Earth. We reposted Imagineer Zach Riddley’s posts about the progress of the refurbishment. Well, now we can bring you images and video of the soft opening of the brand new “Beacon Of Magic” as a finished product.

The new LED lights shine very bright and can be seen across the whole of Disney World property. To be inside the park when this went live was amazing, and looked stunning. We cannot wait to share more images and videos of the whole geodesic sphere lit up. What is truly awesome, is the way Disney can manipulate the LED lights and make patterns and waves, and images appear on Space Ship Earth now.
