Walt Disney World’s Epcot is going purple for Epilepsy; the third Annual Purple Day. It is for Epilepsy Awareness Around the World and Expo. Spaceship Earth Ball will be lighting up the sky to mark this special occasion. It will be bringing awareness to World Epilepsy Day which is celebrated worldwide on March 26th.  There will be events going on throughout the day of Sunday, March 1st, at Disney.

There will be morning activities at the Contemporary resort starting at 9 am with registration. 9:30 am-12 pm is the kick off of the event with Minnie and Mickey making an appearance, along with some friends in the ballroom. Refreshments will be served.  There will even be a special secret guest speaker for the event. Also, there will be activities for kids and some awesome giveaway opportunities. Including a vacation package!  The founder herself Cassidy Megan will also be attending!

From noon to 5 pm The Anita Kaufmann Foundation will be hosting an Expo providing you with great information about the disorder, treatment options, and resources. Nationwide representatives will be in attendance to give you the best information out there and support services.

Then at dusk when the day goes dim everyone will be over at Epcot to watch the ball light up the sky purple for this worth cause bringing awareness to Epilepsy. If you don’t have a ticket for Epcot for the day but are registered for this event there will be Disney cast members by the gate. They will escort you over to the group for the group picture and to watch as Disney lights up Spaceship Earth.

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that affects over 50 million people worldwide. It is most known for causing seizures. This is a disorder near and dear to my heart as two of my family members suffer from it. Disney is participating in bringing awareness to this disorder. Make sure you register for this event and dress in purple the color representing Epilepsy Awareness!!!
