Enchanted 2 is in the works?

Enchanted 2 is in the works?

There are a few articles floating around asking the same questions. One I read was at Moviefone:

It’s a question that philosophers and children alike have been debating for centuries: what happens after happily ever after? Now, thanks to Disney, we may finally find out.

That’s because according to Variety, Disney is panning a sequel to 2007’s surprise hit ‘Enchanted.’ That film, which told the story of a fairy tale princess who was marooned in New York City by an evil witch, made over $123 million, domestically, and $340 million worldwide.

In fact, the biggest hurdle facing the sequel, which Disney has put on the fast track in hopes of getting it into theaters as soon as possible, may be that very success. Thanks to her star turn in ‘Enchanted,’ Amy Adams has become one of Hollywood’s hottest properties, which may throw up some roadblocks for the studio in terms of both her availability and the higher salary she now commands.

The second article I found was at Hitfix that talks more about Amy Adams:

They would never admit it publicly, but executives at the Walt Disney Studios was a bit disappointed with the initial returns for the well-reviewed and audience friendly “Enchanted.” The hybrid musical/comedy was a riff on the studio’s traditional animated fairy tales and ended up with three Oscar nominations in the Best Original Song category, was Amy Adams’ breakout commercial role and pulled in $340 million worldwide, but the scuttlebutt was that the film should have actually grossed more domestically. That may be why it’s taken awhile for the Mouse House to greenlight a sequel, but new studio Chairman Rich Ross is changing all that.

Variety reports that “The Proposal’s” Anne Fletcher will direct “Enchaned 2” and that Disney has hired veteran Jessie Nelson (“Stepmom,” “The Story of Us”) to write the screenplay. Fletcher is coming off the monster success of “The Proposal,” but the former choreographer is also behind such hits as “Step Up” and “27 Dresses.” No reason was given for original director Kevin Lima’s departure.

I hope Amy will jump on board and be apart of Enchan
