Stephanie Beatriz Hopeful for Encanto Sequel from Disney
Encanto star Stephanie Beatriz recently sat down with The Wrap to promote her Twisted Metal show (Peacock) and brought up the topic of an Encanto Sequel. Beatriz said that she would “love to work with Jared Bush and Byron Howard again.” Currently the duo are working on a sequel to Zootopia, so a potential sequel to Encanto would have to wait until they were done, or be helmed by another director entirely.

Beatriz is a huge Disney fan and says, “I go to the parks a lot and whenever people recognize me they ask about that too. So I know fans of the film are really, really eager to know if it’s gonna get a sequel, I would love to do that. I think there’s a ton of story to be told and there’s so many people that would love to see that…”
“Encanto” is an enchanting animated musical film that transports audiences to the magical world of the Madrigal family in Colombia. The Madrigals possess a unique gift bestowed upon each family member, except for Mirabel, the protagonist.
As the only member without a magical power, Mirabel struggles to find her place within the family, feeling like an outsider amidst their exceptional abilities. However, when the once harmonious magical town faces an unexpected threat, Mirabel must embrace her individuality and uncover the truth behind the fading enchantments. Through heartwarming songs, colorful animation, and endearing characters, “Encanto” weaves a tale of self-discovery, familial love, and the power of embracing one’s own identity.
In her journey, Mirabel unearths the secrets of the Encanto, a magical candle that holds the Madrigal family’s powers. As she confronts the past and challenges the status quo, Mirabel learns that it is not her extraordinary abilities that define her worth, but her resilience, determination, and unconditional love for her family.
“Encanto” is a celebration of diversity, emphasizing the beauty of imperfection, and the importance of accepting oneself for who they truly are. Through its uplifting narrative and captivating visuals, the film leaves audiences with a poignant message about the strength found in embracing one’s uniqueness and the joy of being part of a loving, magical family.
We will have to wait and see if Disney and Bob Iger have plans for the “Encanto Franchise.” Could we be learning of an Encanto sequel in this week’s earnings call? Stay tuned for more Encanto updates and more films from Walt Disney Animation.
