Disney World Monorail Silver Involved in Incident; Service Restored Late Afternoon
The Walt Disney World monorail system experienced a significant disruption yesterday, November 23rd, following an electrical fire onboard Monorail Silver. The incident, which was reported by park guests and observers in the morning, led to the complete shutdown of the monorail lines for the majority of the day.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but the train—Monorail Silver—remained stopped on the track, reportedly on the express line and appearing to be empty at the time of the incident. An eyewitness account described seeing “quite a bit of smoke that smelled like burning electrical insulation coming out between the cars.” The area around the incident, including the walking path to Magic Kingdom, was immediately closed to guests.
Throughout the day, Firefighters and maintenance workers were visible on a lift below the stopped Monorail Silver, working to assess the damage and ensure the safety of the line.

The monorail system finally reopened to guests in the late afternoon, with reports confirming service was running again as of approximately 4:25 PM ET. However, in the immediate aftermath of the reopening, Cast Members were still proactively advising guests to utilize the slower but reliable boat transportation options instead of immediately boarding the monorail.
The incident underscores the importance of the Monorail’s safety protocols and the swift response of emergency and maintenance teams at the resort.
