Downtown Disney’s Earl of Sandwich Announces Closure and Future Reopening
Earl of Sandwich has revealed the closing date for its current, temporary spot in the Downtown Disney District, along with the opening timeframe for its new, permanent location.

The temporary Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney District will close on July 26, according to The Orange County Register. This closure will unfortunately lead to the layoffs of all 167 employees.
The original Earl of Sandwich location was demolished in 2022, leading the restaurant to temporarily relocate to the former La Brea Bakery building in 2023. This temporary move was possible because Disney’s plan to replace La Brea with Porto’s Bakery in 2022 was delayed.
The new permanent Earl of Sandwich location on the west side of Downtown Disney is set to open this winter.
Construction is currently underway for the new Earl of Sandwich, which will be a two-story building. The first floor will feature a quick-service walk-up counter, and the second will house Carnaby Tavern, a cocktail bar. Meanwhile, the former La Brea Bakery building is finally slated for demolition to clear the way for Porto’s Bakery.
The future of the Earl of Sandwich pop-up pod near the Star Wars Trading Post remains uncertain.
