Drunk Man climbs pyramid at Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion

epcot-video

We all love the Epcot Food & Wine Festival, some people more than others. Recently a video showed up on Youtube where a drunk man decided to climb Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion pyramid. The video cuts out before I am sure Disney security escorting this gentleman out of the parks. There is no word if he has been banned permanently but discussions on various Disney Forums state he might be.

Many people have been complaining for years that the Epcot Food & Wine Festival is nothing but crowds of drunk people and that the event is getting out of hand.

  1. We avoided the world showcase during food and wine and didn’t have any trouble. Maybe do the world showcase in the morning and the other side of the park for the evening hours. It seemed to me that most of the drunks hung out in the world showcase. My youngest daughter and I ran over there at night to get some pictures taken with princesses. There was definitely a different atmosphere than when food and wine isn’t going on. Once we got our pics, we left that area of the park.

  2. I’ve been to the Food & Wine Fest 3 times this year and I have yet to encounter any type of drunks. It sounds like a lot of isolated incidents with everyone. Some of the issues people on here have complained about I’ve encountered with sober people. I completely understand Disney is for kids but there are people that treat Epcot as the “Adult Magic Kingdom”. I doubt Disney is going to change anything about Food and Wine. There’s too much of a profit for them especially with how much they made with all the food, wine, beer, merchandise, etc.

  3. We were there last year for a large family trip during part of the Food & Wine Festival (not intentionally planned), and my husband, daughter, and I stayed later one evening for one of the concerts. Before the concert it was crowded but not too bad. Afterwards – another story altogether! Thankfully I was in a wheelchair, so my daughter sat on my lap while my husband pushed us through. But the drunk people were extremely obnoxious, and if possible we will avoid future trips to coincide with the Food & Wine Festival.

  4. ^ try 6 or 8th person this person is very much not the first and definately not the last to climb the pyramid at mexico. this guy is just the one to get caught via social media and then went viral online. drunk morons and brave souls have climbed mexico for years! the same with the drunk ideots who jump the fenceing around the lagoon and go for a swim. its happened a few times but social media wasnt prevalent as it is today where everything is a cellphone shot away..

  5. before Mexico gets shut down? Will never happen, it’s part of the countries. One drunk person in 30 years at Epcot will not change that.

  6. We have found that the worst crowd for drunk issues for the Food and Wine Festival are after 8:00 on weekend nights. We just don’t take our children then and have not had any issues ourselves during the food and wine festival (but we do work at a large university and are a bit blind to the kind of behavior you see at a football tailgate). We did have trouble this summer in June with drunk guys getting into a nasty fight (like nose broken, teeth knocked out) in front of our children…but again, it was after the fireworks. Disney could give everyone over 21 a bracelet and after say three or four stops (hole punch or scan each purchase) cut you off for the night. Might help

  7. Looks like I’m going to have to try to go and get some drinks in before people get it shut down and ruin it for everybody

  8. Hate the drinking at Epcot! We were there for New Year’s Eve and people started getting drunk early. A woman ran over my daughters foot with a motorized scooter and bruised it so badly that we had to push her around the rest of the day in her OWN wheelchair. The woman never realized that the bump she ran over in a pastry shop or the crying child was caused by her. Drunks were constantly jostling my daughters wheelchair and shoving us, it was ridiculous!

  9. This whole Drinking Around the World thing during the food and wine festival is getting out of control. It makes this year’s grope happy drunkards at HHN 25 look like good people.

  10. We went to the festival last year and the drunks were obnoxious. We are going back next year and we decided that we will only visit during the day time on weekdays. There were people that were so rude toy children and one even said, “What are kids doing here? Kids should not even be here”.
