Break out your lederhosen! It’s time for a classic must-do for any Drink Around the World Showcase (DAWS) excursion. Germany proves itself to be one of the best spots for anyone participating in DAWS. It’s an especially great choice for those taking on a beer themed drinking challenge. Like the Mexico Pavilion, it’s important to pace yourself here so you don’t end up completely roasted and toasted. Enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of Germany. Pretzels and beer? Definitely!

The pavilion has a couple of different kiosks where you can grab a quick drink. The Trinken Cart carries a few types of beer, including Hovels which is not an easy find. If you’re looking for something different and unique to the pavilion, this one would be it. You can score a glass of this for $8.50. If you prefer a lighter beer, go for the Altenmunster Oktoberfest ($8.50). It’s very similar to the Sam Adams Octoberfest that you’ll find in the American Pavilion. For something a little stronger, check out the shots of Jagermeister ($8.00). A few shots of Jagermeister will quickly rack up your DAWS points!

You can also find a beer stand directly in the pavilion. It carries all of the same drink options, except the Hovels. Instead, check out the Radeberger Pilsner ($8.50). Want to commemorate your DAWS experience? Get your beer in a souvenir mug for $12.25. I’ll drink to that! And don’t forget to get a pretzel to snack on. Both stands have soft pretzels for $4.75.

Speaking of snacks, Germany has several great choices to grab a quick bite. For something sweet, visit Karamell Kuche where you can purchase a variety of delicious treats made with Werther’s Originals caramels. From caramel corn to caramel apples, your sweet tooth will definitely be satisfied. Prices vary from a steep $9.95 for a milk chocolate caramel apple to snack credit priced ($3.95 or less) chocolate caramel cupcakes and caramel vanilla fudge.

If you’re looking for a savory snack, check out Sommerfest which carries bratwurst and frankfurters with sauerkraut and rolls for a reasonable $6.59-$6.69. You can also indulge in some classic Bavarian desserts like apple strudel with vanilla sauce and black forest cake (both $3.79). And of course, don’t forget to grab another pint of your favorite German beer.

Bratwurst at Sommerfest

When you’re at the Germany Pavilion, you’ll feel like you’re transported to Oktoberfest. And what better way to celebrate than to have a meal at Biergarten a buffet style meal that is set to resemble the sights, sounds and tastes of the festival! This is a terrific spot for families, groups of friends and to meet new friends too. In fact, you’ll be seated at long communal tables with other parties. Grab a pint of beer and make a toast to new friends! This buffet is open for lunch and dinner ($23.42-$39.40) and offers a taste of authentic Germany. You’ll find spaetzle, sauerbraten, all types of wursts, and braised red cabbage–all on both hot and cold buffet stations. Drinks are a must in this restaurant. It is Oktoberfest after all! Order the German beer flight for $10.00. It includes: Radeberger Pilsner, Schofferhofer Weizen, Altenmunster Oktoberfest, and Hovels. And while you’re there, enjoy the traditional music.

It might surprise you, but the Germany Pavilion features many authentic German wines. In fact, you can even sample many of these wines in a wine cellar right next to Biergarten. Tucked away from the beaten path, it’s a wonderfully refreshing place to take a break and enjoy some samples of wine. Guests can order a wine flight featuring white, red, or dessert wines from $9.39-$14.09. Each flight samples three types of wines with 2 oz. pours each. Cast members are on hand to assist you and also give you more information about the wines themselves.

The Germany Pavilion is a terrific DAWS stop for guests, beer drinkers or not. With so many choices of food and drink, you’ll think you were transported to Oktoberfest. You can even score some authentic Oktoberfest gear while you’re there. From Official Oktoberfest Beverage Gloves (which you’ll want to wear on the rest of your DAWS excursion) to goofy beer mug shaped glasses, you won’t be able to say “nein”…I mean resist!
