The Hundred Foot Journey, Dreamworks upcoming new movie, is the story of a feud between the famous Michelin starred owned by Madame Mallory (Helen Mirren) and the newly opened Indian restaurant, the Kadam family has opened just 100 feet away. The story is set in the village of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val in the south of France and the perfect place to set up shop. The main character Hassan Kadam (Manish Dayal) is a genius in the kitchen and upon open Maison Moubai, sets about to create his culinary French haute cuisine. Along the way, he also develops an interest in the competition’s sous chef, Marguerite (Charlotte Le Bon) which adds to the war between the two restaurants. Hassan’s magical ways with the delicious plates and Marguerite, finally convince the tough Madame Mallory to join forces with and take Hassan under her wings.
Produced by Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey and Juliet Blake, with the screenplay by Steven Knight, The Hundred Foot Journey will have you drooling in your theatre seats and rooting for the hero. Hassan’s victory includes overcoming the exile of his homeland, battling the competition and in the end finding a little bit of home where ever he may be.
The Hundred-Foot Journey will be released in theaters on August 8, 2014.
