Actor Wallace Langham who played Dr. Seeker, Makes Surprise Appearance at DINOSAUR for Final Farewell

As Disney’s Animal Kingdom bid a permanent farewell to DinoLand U.S.A. and the fan-favorite attraction DINOSAUR, a legendary face returned to the scene. Wallace Langham, the actor who portrayed the eccentric and beloved Dr. Grant Seeker, made a surprise appearance this morning to celebrate the attraction’s legacy with the Cast Members who brought the magic to life every day.

While the gates officially closed to the public yesterday, Cast Members gathered on the morning of February 2nd for a private farewell ceremony. In a moment that felt like a jump back in time, Wallace Langham appeared in full costume—donning the iconic white lab coat—to stand alongside the team.

Langham, whose “heck of a paleontologist” character has been a staple of the Disney’s Animal Kingdom experience since the park opened (initially as Countdown to Extinction), spent time posing for photos in front of the Time Rover and sharing memories with the crew.

The appearance wasn’t just a photo op; it was a testament to the community built around the ride. Local photographer Michael Huang shared a snapshot of the encounter, joking that a man in a lab coat had tried to convince him to hop into a Time Rover—an offer that was tempting, even on a record-breaking cold North Carolina morning!

Cast Members also took to social media to share the bittersweet moment. Many joked about finally getting their “letter of resignation” from the man who spent years sending them on dangerous missions to the late Cretaceous period.

The Future of the Site: From Dinosaurs to Tropical Americas

The departure of Dr. Seeker clears the way for the next chapter of Animal Kingdom. Construction is already shifting into high gear to transform the 11-acre DinoLand site into the Tropical Americas, featuring the village of Pueblo Esperanza.

While the DINOSAUR ride system will remain, it will be reimagined into a brand-new Indiana Jones adventure. Additionally, the land will welcome a new Encanto attraction, a wood-carved carousel, and a massive new dining location when it officially opens in 2027.
