Don’t Forget the Ride Photos!

Don't Forget the Ride Photos!

I don’t know about you, but in my family, ride photos are serious business.  In my teen years, my youngest sister thought it would be a great idea if we started looking terrified when we knew a photo was coming.  Someone who knew about the camera would yell out to everyone to remind them to make a face, and the result was comedy gold.  My mother actually has a pretty impressive collection of ride photos she has collected over the years because some of them were just unforgettable.

Back then, if you wanted a ride photo in Walt Disney World, you had to remember or write down your number and go to the desk and wait for them to print yours out.  Things are considerably different when you get ride photos these days.  While you still have the option to go to the desk and get prints of your photos, their popularity has declined over the  years.  The great part is that the cameras are still capturing these amazing pictures, and you can get them digitally through PhotoPass.  They have also started adding borders, like the one above, to the photos within the last year.  The photo opportunity at Pirates of the Caribbean is also relatively new, so sometimes it still surprises even the Walt Disney World veterans.

I wish there were pictures of my family so you could see some of the amazing shots we have collected, even in recent years.  Now, if you didn’t already know, you can get these photos easily.  If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you can add the Memory Maker to your package.  With the Memory Maker, all of these photos are included in your package and entitles you to a free digital download of your photos.  The Memory Maker is also included in the Platinum Plus Annual Pass.  This is why I was able to capture the Dinosaur photo where my daughter completely disappeared because she slumped so far down in her seat out of fear.  Or the photo on Splash Mountain where we successfully had our whole car sleeping.  I never leave out the Memory Maker.

So, which rides can allow you to get these amazing photos?  Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, DINOSAUR, Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, Frozen Ever After, Pirates of the Caribbean, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Slinky Dog Dash, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Test Track, and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™.  Please also note that Frozen Ever After, Pirates of the Caribbean, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Slinky Dog Dash do not have the photo counter at the end of the ride, so the only way to get your photos is to have, and be wearing, a MagicBand.  I would also like to point out that if you are travelling in a large party, as long as you share your travel plans with each other in your My Disney Experience, you can share your photos, too.
