Walt Disney World is known for its Theme Parks, Rides and attractions, and world class service. One thing you might not know about them is that they have some of the BEST FOOD ON THE PLANET! Seriously- anything you can think of, they serve it – from sushi to salads to sundaes – and everything in between! One thing they really shine in is the world of chocolate desserts – decadent, mouth-watering treats that will satisfy any and all chocolate fanatics out there. Used to be that the only way to get your hands (and mouths!) on these desserts was to actually go to Disney – but now all you have to do is roll up your sleeves, put on an apron, and get baking with these DIY Disney Chocolate Desserts:
You can find these cheesecake brownies at the Boardwalk Bakery at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort. Gooey, chocolate-y, tangy cheesecake-y – these have it all! And you can recreate these in your own kitchen with this simple recipe:
Cheesecake Brownies (Recipe Courtesy of Magical Recipes)
Ingredients – Brownies
2 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
5 eggs
2 sticks of butter, melted
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Ingredients – Cheesecake
3/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
4 8-ounce boxes of cream cheese
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 tablespoons heavy cream
2 tablespoons sour cream
Directions – Brownies
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan.
Sift together sugar, flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder in a large mixing bowl.
Beat flour mixture and eggs on low speed using an electric mixer, scraping bowl occasionally and mixing until smooth.
Slowly add melted butter and beat until just combined: do not over mix.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Transfer batter to prepared baking dish.
Bake until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean, about 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and set aside to cool.
Directions – Cheesecake
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Cream sugar, cornstarch, and cream cheese in a large bowl using an electric mixer.
Add lemon juice and vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly.
Add eggs one at a time, scraping the bowl with each addition.
Fold in heavy cream and sour cream.
Spread batter on top of already baked brownies.
Bake until cheesecake is lightly browned and firm, about 55 – 60 minutes.
Cool completely and refrigerate at least one hour before serving.
If cheesecake isn’t your thing, then maybe you’re more of a fan of the popular (and delicious!) chocolate/peanut butter combo? If so, you will definitely want to try your hand at this chocolate peanut butter cupcake recipe (these delectable treats are found at the Starring Rolls Café at Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
Chocolate Peanut butter Cupcakes (Recipe Courtesy Of Magical Recipes)
Ingredients – Chocolate Cake
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup boiling-hot water
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
1 1/4 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
4 large eggs, warmed in very warm water for 10 minutes
Ingredients – Peanut Butter Topping
1 cup Peanut Butter
1 cup Chocolate Fudge Icing
Directions – Chocolate Cake
Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
Set aside.
Combine boiling-hot water and cocoa powder in a separate medium bowl, whisking until smooth.
Whisk in milk and vanilla extract.
Set aside.
Combine butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar in a large bowl.
Beat with an electric mixer at medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.
Reduce mixer speed to low.
Alternately add flour mixture and cocoa mixture in 3 batches, beginning and ending with flour. Mixing until just combined.
Fill Cup Cakes and bake at 340 degrees F. for 25 minutes until cake feels firm to touch.
Directions – Peanut Butter Topping
Pipe on top the cupcake
Decorate with chocolate shavings.
Ok, so we’ve got cupcakes, cheesecake brownies, what’s missing? Oh yes – COOKIES – can never have enough cookies – and these Gourmet Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies that can be found over at the Main Street Bakery are crisp on the outside and fudgy and gooey (from the chocolate chunks yum!) on the inside. Oh, and they are easy to make, so that’s a plus too!
To wash it all down, you can whip up a batch of these Oreo Milkshakes – which are served up daily at the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Yum!
