Diver Lock Out Chamber Demonstration Returning After Years to The Seas in EPCOT

Diver Lock-Out Chamber Demonstrations Make a Splashy Return to The Seas at EPCOT!

After a five-year hiatus, EPCOT is diving back into the magic with the return of the Diver Lock-Out Chamber demonstrations at The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilion! Beginning July 22, guests can once again witness this fan-favorite underwater experience live in SeaBase Alpha, just steps away from everyone’s favorite talking turtle, Crush.

If you’re new to this aquatic adventure, here’s the scoop: during the demo, a wetsuit-clad diver equipped with scuba gear enters the towering blue-lit lock-out chamber inside the pavilion’s massive aquarium. As the chamber slowly fills with water, a Cast Member narrates the process, offering an up-close look at how the diver’s air tank works and what it’s like to descend beneath the surface. It’s both educational and visually stunning; perfect for curious kiddos and ocean-loving adults alike!

Each demonstration lasts about 10 minutes and used to take place roughly every 30 minutes prior to the pandemic shutdown in March 2020. Since then, the chamber has been dry and dormant… until now. Thanks to Dr. Mark Penning, Disney’s VP of Animals, Science, and Environment, we have a sneak peek to share with you!

This revival brings a little extra “whoa!” to The Seas, which already features sea turtles, sharks, manatees, and a 5.7-million-gallon saltwater tank teeming with marine life. It’s a perfect pairing if you’re grabbing a bite at Coral Reef Restaurant, where diners can enjoy their meal with a view of divers exploring the tank (though we assure you, no fish are on the menu!).
