Disneyworld Favorites Survey

Article from Heather Leigh Carroll-Landon at the Examiner.

Over the past month I have been conducting a survey of Walt Disney World favorites. I surveyed a total 103 people. Surveys were conducted on line via Twitter and Facebook and at the Walt Disney World Resorts. More than 60 percent of those surveyed were either at a Disney park or at enjoying their day at one of the resorts. Keep in mind that this is not a scientific survey, I was just curious as to what some of the favorites were.

Participants were surveyed in a variety of categories, including overall favorites and favorites at individual theme parks. They gave their favorite ride, restaurants, show, resort and much more. Check out the results below.

Overall Favorites at Walt Disney World

It was almost no contest when it came to everyone’s favorite ride in all of Walt Disney World. The number one favorite ride was Rock’n’Roller Coaster, Starring Aerosmith. This ride was followed by (with a large margin) Soarin’ and Big Thunder Mountain.

Fantasmic! lead the polls for favorite Walt Disney World show. However, Finding Nemo the Musical and Wishes were close behind. Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort topped the list of favorite restaurants and Cinderella’s Royal Table was not too far behind. Cinderella’s Royal Table was especially popular with those traveling with Princesses of their own.

“My daughter’s reaction was priceless,” said Tony Nowak of Spring Grove, Ill. (who responded to the poll via Facebook) about their dining experience at Cinderella’s Royal Table at the Magic Kingdom Park. “Well worth the money.” Nowak and his family have visited Walt Disney World four times and said that dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table is still the highlight of all their Disney vacations.

When it came to everyone’s favorite Disney Park it was a tie between the Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot. Taking third place was Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and in last place was Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Magic Kingdom Favorites

It seemed that the favorite land at Magic Kingdom was Frontierland and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin topped the list for favorite ride. The Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor and Wishes were neck and neck for favorite show at the Magic Kingdom.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The newest ride, Toy Story Mania, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios took the number one spot for favorite ride. I found that interesting since Rock’n’Roller Coaster took best overall ride at the Walt Disney World Resorts. Rock’n’Roller Coaster took second among favorite rides at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Everyone’s favorite show at Walt Disney World, Fantasmic! also took the best show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The 50s Prime Time Café seemed to be everyone’s favorite place to eat while enjoying their day Hollywood-style.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park

With 95 percent of the votes, Kilimanjaro Safaris placed first among those surveyed. The remaining five percent voted for Expedition Everest. Hmmm. I would have thought it would have been the other way around. Goes to show that the thrill rides are not always the favorites. Finding Nemo the Musical had the most fans and took the number one spot for favorite show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

Epcot

There was a tie for the favorite show at Epcot. Illuminations: Reflections of Earth (one of my personal favorites) and Turtle Talk with Crush topped the list. Another classic taking the top spot for favorites was Spaceship Earth in the favorite ride category. However, not to far behind was Mission: SPACE and Test Track.

One participant via my Facebook poll said that they try to visit Walt Disney World every year and it is always a different adventure.

“Magic Kingdom brings out the kid in all of us,” said Jenni Schrader, South Elgin, Ill. “Hollywood Studios brings out the daring side in us. Epcot is both exciting and interesting to the mind and to the kid side.” She was not able to comment on Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park because they have yet to visit it. However, they are planning to during their next trip.

Oh, I almost forgot. The favorite resorts included Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter (my favorite), Disney’s BoardWalk Resort and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. What was everyone’s favorite pool? Hands down it was Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts’ Storm-a-Long Bay.

I do believe my first Walt Disney World favorites survey came out well. There were some surprises and some results that were expected.
