The Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend opened up yesterday for registration to the general public (DVC owners and AP holders were able to sign up on the 6th) with a resounding success. They have added two new events this year, The Enchanted 10k and the all new Glass Slipper Challenge, with one selling out in 6 1/2 half hours, which, if I understand correctly is a new record. The new Dopey Challenge at Walt Disney’s Marathon Weekend originally broke the record earlier this year, when it sold out in 7 hours, but leave it to the Princesses not to be outdone, they broke it in 6 1/2 hours.
This year runDisny has added a new challenge for the event weekend, The Glass Slipper Challenge. It’s set up for people that think a half marathon is just a walk in the park and this will put their endurance to the test. The new 19.3 mile adventure, held over two days, will have participants running The Enchanted 10k on Saturday, followed by the Disney Princess Half Marathon on Sunday. If you finish both races, within the pacing requirements, you will be awarded the all-new Glass Slipper Challenge medal. This is in addition to your Half Marathon and 10k medals. Runners had to sign up for the both events and the Glass Slipper Challenge to be eligible.
