Disney's Ohana Honey Coriander Wings at Home

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort  Ohana Restaurant is a fan favorite among Disney Guests. For good reason. Their food is a Hawaiian style cuisine. It is a buffet family-style meal. For breakfast, they have Lilo and Stitch greeting guests. For dinner, it is more of a traditional Hawaiian experience.

This dining experience usually includes ‘Ohana pineapple bread, a mixed salad, these Honey-Corriander Chicken wings,  Garlic-Ginger pork dumplings for starters. For the main course, they serve steak, chicken, and shrimp skewers. It is accompanied by stir fry veggies and teriyaki noodles. For Dessert is the famous ‘Ohana Bread Pudding. The meal typically costs $55.00 for adults and $33.00 for children ages 3-9. ‘Ohana is one of the most sought after dining reservations, so get your reservations in as soon as you can. Since having some extra time at home I decided to recreate a favorite, the Honey-Corriander Chicken Wings. You can try this too at home! Here are the recipe and steps.

Wing Seasoning
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon ground paprika
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Coriander Wing Sauce
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch (put it in a cup with a splash of water and mix it first so you don’t get lumps)
1/2 tablespoon coriander powder
1/2 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1/2 tablespoon ground Chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

This is for 5lbs of chicken wings. (I cut the recipe in half)  You will also need 2-4 tablespoons of vegetable oil.

Here are the instructions. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees. In a bowl mix dry wing seasonings.  Toss the wing and two tablespoons of vegetable oil in the wing seasoning, coating them evenly. Then place them on a baking sheet spread out. Cook until an internal temperature of 165 degrees, for about 18-20 minutes. In a large saute pan mix the remainder of the ingredients. Simmer over medium to low heat.  Keep stirring this for a few minutes until the sauce becomes thickened and sticky. When the wings are done cooking in the oven toss them into the sauce and serve.

They came out better than I expected. I was a bit hesitant with all the flavor components going into this dish. But it works. The wings have a sweet and sour flavor with a bit of spice. Not too spicy though. They are sticky and sweet and delicious. They were definitely finger licking worthy. I made them with a pad thai noodle but would try the ‘Ohana teriyaki noodles next time, for the full Disney experience at home!
