Rob Marshall was quoted at the recent National Arts Awards as saying “It is not a new Mary Poppins,” referring to his new project based on the iconic nanny we all love. The new film will be based on the original P.L. Travers series. Set in 1934, the story will pull from the other books which included a total of eight.
The original Mary Poppins movie starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke was based on just one of the books. Marshall and the rest of the team will be working with the other 7 books, keeping the original “iconic brilliance” untouched.
One of the comments, Mr. Marshall made which makes this huge fan of Mary Poppins excited, is that Julie Andrews is very happy to see this project move forward and like Mr. Marshall, I too would love to see Ms. Andrews in the film.
While still in the early stages, I know this will become one of my favorites. How about you Disney Addicts? Are you excited to see more adventures of our favorite nanny?
