Disney’s search for a director of the live-action Pinocchio is over. Paul King, the man who brought Paddington bear to the screen, will now do the same for Disney’s beloved puppet.
Pinocchio is the story of a wooden boy created by an old woodworker named Geppetto. One night, a fairy brings the puppet to life and tells him he will be turned into a real boy if he can prove his bravery. Jiminy Cricket quickly becomes the puppet’s companion and acting conscience. On his journey, Pinocchio learns about honesty and bravery through a series of events which include being kidnapped, turned into a donkey and swallowed by a whale.
Joining King on this project will be Chris Weitz and Andrew Miano as producers and Jack Thorne who will be re-writing the script. The reimagined version of this Disney 1940 classic is slated to begin production this fall.
