By now you may have heard that the Jungle Book: Alive With Magic show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is ending on September 5th. Many of us thought that signaled the long-awaited beginning of Rivers of Light, seeing as the Jungle Book show was thrown together as a last-minute replacement for Rivers of Light, after the lights and water show continued to face huge setbacks in getting ready for production.
However, the Orlando Sentinel reports otherwise, stating that as we enter Autumn, the hours at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be scaled back, and the park will begin closing earlier than it’s current 11 p.m. summer closing time. In September, Animal Kingdom will begin shutting down at 9 p.m. Closing times will be as early as 7 p.m. in October and 6 p.m. in November, even during the Thanksgiving weekend. However, if you take into account that earlier sunset hours happen as we head into winter, then perhaps maybe the park doesn’t need to stay open as late in order for guests to experience the nighttime Kilimanjaro Safari or the lighting of the Tree of Life.
Many rumors abound as to why Disney is cutting the park hours, such as low attendance, as well as poor reviews for the nighttime experiences at Animal Kingdom. What do you think? Will the earlier park closing time affect your next trip?
