Fantasmic! at Disneyland is temporarily closed. At this time there is no official announcement on the reopening date of the popular nighttime show other than the spring of 2019. The planned closure is for refurbishments to the existing show.
Fantasmic! has been a park staple for more than 25 years. The 27-minute show that takes place on the Rivers of America combines multiple dazzling elements. State of the art special effects combines with elements of water screen projections, pyrotechnics, live performers and plenty of beloved Disney characters. The show elements make for an incredible spectacle designed to wow the young and young at heart. Fantasmic! includes many favorite Disney characters and movies, including classics such as Fantasia and Snow White and more recent films Aladdin, Tangled, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Lion King. Our hero, Mickey is the star of the show and ends with a battle of good and evil as Mickey attempts to defeat Maleficent, the 45-foot fire breathing dragon.
If you are finding yourself completely bummed at this temporary closure, don’t be! While Fantasmic! may be under refurbishment Mickey’s Mix Magic is up and running. The high energy dance party throughout the park is a 10-minute show to celebrate Mickey and Minnie during their 90th anniversary. The show can be seen on Main Street U.S.A., the facade of “it’s a small world”, and on the Rivers of America. Mickey’s Mix Magic is hosted by DJ Mickey who spins upbeat tunes. Fireworks, lasers, and projections on water screens make this a fun show that will get you dancing to the beat.
While it may seem like there are quite a few refurbishments going on at Disneyland, everything will be reopening soon. Let’s continue the party for Mickey and Minne and get ready for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Stay tuned for updates!
