DisneylandForward Concept Art Reveals Redesigned Pedestrian Bridge
Big changes are quietly taking shape at the Happiest Place on Earth! As Disneyland Resort prepares for its ambitious DisneylandForward expansion project, Disney has quietly updated its concept art for the upcoming Eastern Gateway pedestrian bridge.

The pedestrian walkway, which will cross directly over Harbor Boulevard to connect guests from new parking areas straight to the main Esplanade, has undergone a noticeable design update:
- Previous Design: The original renderings featured an open-air walkway lined with vibrant, colorful walls, lush trees, and distinctive pink ambient lighting.
- Updated Design: The revised artwork replaces the open top with a full gray roof enclosure. The structure now features side openings along the walkway, allowing guests to take in scenic views of the resort while staying completely sheltered.
While Disney has not released an official statement regarding the tweak, adding a fully covered roof is a practical move. It provides much-needed protection from Southern California’s summer heat and keeps guests dry during unexpected rain showers while walking between the parking hub and theme park turnstiles.

This updated bridge is a key piece of DisneylandForward’s infrastructure upgrades. Disney recently broke ground on the new eastern transportation hub, which is being built at the site of the former Manchester Cast Member parking lot.
Once complete, the new facility will feature:
- ~6,000 New Parking Spaces for visiting park guests.
- 302 Dedicated EV Charging Spaces to support electric vehicles.
- Dedicated Rideshare & Shuttle Zones for drop-offs and pick-ups.
- Direct Access off Disney Way to ease traffic congestion on surrounding Anaheim streets.
- On-Site Security Screening so guests can clear security before crossing the bridge.
To clear space for the bridge’s touchdown point and incoming traffic flows, Disneyland Resort has already begun demolishing older ticket booths along Harbor Boulevard.

The infrastructure push comes ahead of massive park expansions slated across Disneyland Resort. Future DisneylandForward additions include:
- Two New Avengers Campus Attractions at Disney California Adventure.
- A New Coco Attraction coming to Pixar Pier.
- A Dedicated Pandora – The World of Avatar Land.
- A Comprehensive Reimagining of Tomorrowland inside Disneyland Park.
