Disneyland Selects 1,400 Employees for Opening of Galaxy's Edge
1,400 park employees have been selected to work in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland!

Current Disneyland employees jumped for joy when they found out they were selected to work in the coveted new addition to the theme park. Disneyland plans to hire new cast members to replace those chosen for Galaxy’s Edge.

The general manager of Galaxy’s Edge, Kappy Thorsen, stated that cast members were “coming out of the woodwork” to get the chance to work in the new Star Wars land. She also said, “It really speaks to the Disney brand but also the Star Wars brand because people just want to be a part of it. It actually made recruiting very easy, which was really fun and exciting.”

The newest cast members are also very excited about the costumes they get to wear while working in Galaxy’s Edge. Disney wardrobe department teamed with Lucasfilm to create very authentic costumes to match the ones worn by actors in the “Star Wars” films.

All Galaxy’s Edge cast members will be dressed in clothing that signify three different camps: First Order Soldiers, Resistance rebels, or Black Spire Outpost villagers.

Villagers will get to choose their own outfits from a vast array of tunics, vests, necklaces, scarves, hats and belts. This allows cast members to express their individuality.

The First Order will be dressed in military-style uniforms while the Resistance will be adorned in flight crew gear with a jacket, vest, hat and goggles.

The CM name tags will also feature names both in English and the Star Wars language of Aurebesh.

What’s the coolest part of being a cast member in Galaxy’s Edge? You get to build your own backstory. The Galaxy’s Edge trainees will get to create their own narrative while working on Batuu.

Check out what the Imagineering managing story editor, Margaret Kerrison, has to say about this:

“We give them an overview of the story of the land, but we’re encouraging them to create their own identities and personas. All the cast are local Batuuans. They’re getting into their shuttle and they’re going into Black Spire Outpost to do their work. What we are encouraging them to do is know about your daily lives. You know where you work, you know what you’re selling, you know who you’re working for. You also have an opinion of what’s recently taking place here. Which is the First Order just arrived a couple of weeks ago. How are you feeling about that? I’ve heard rumors that the Resistance is hiding here. That the First Order is looking for the Resistance. They’re just rumors, right? So there’s a lot of gossiping. There’s a lot of whispers and rumors about what’s going on.”
