Chrysalis donation

The Walt Disney Company has long been known for its philanthropy. Yearly campaigns like #shareyourears, and organizations like VoluntEARS and the Disney Conservation fund are well known. Recently they announced another contribution

Josh D’Amaro, the President of Disneyland announced that Disneyland would make a $600,000 donation to Chrysalis, a California nonprofit that is dedicated to job placement for impoverished individuals. He went on to say that “This marks our increasing commitment to the city of Anaheim and the future of its economy and workforce.”

The donation will go toward building a new facility where, with the help of with Disney VoluntEARS, training will take place to prepare individuals for new jobs and to advance in their current career paths as well as a clothing drive to provide business casual clothing to those who lack them. They also put together hygiene kits because they believe an inability to access personal hygiene items should never prevent a person from obtaining employment.

Mark Loranger, president, and CEO of Chrysalis said in a statement, “Chrysalis is honored to have received this transformative gift from the Disneyland Resort, we believe that a steady job is a key step in a person’s transition out of poverty and onto a pathway to self-sufficiency.”
