The Disneyland Duck Races started in 2008 among the Cast Members at ‘it’s a small world’. In 2011 all Cast Members were invited to participate. Proceeds from entry fees are donated to the My Day Counts nonprofit organization that offers life and work training to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
This year the races took place on Friday, July 7, before the park opened to guests. Hundreds of ducks were decorated too look like all different characters from Spider-Man, Maleficent, Madame Leota, Kermit the Frog and even Donald Trump.
Cast Members won awards in different categories. Categories ranged from “Most Like Donald Duck” to “Least Sea-Worthy.” There were also “Most Disney Themed”, “Most Creative”, and “Superhero” categories.
Not all of the rubber ducks made it to the finish line and some could even be seen still floating in the attraction as guests rode later in the day.
How cute is this Disneyland competition?
